Green Ants

I have severe infestations of green ants in my citrus trees. They travel extensively between trees and nothing I do seems to get rid of them.

They make nests in the trees by joining leaves together with some sort of sticky substance. These nests can be up to 30 cm in diameter.

The green ants are very prone to biting, causing pain & discimfort.

Can anyone help with a possible solution to this problem? PLEASE?

We used to wait until early evening when they were all in their nest, then cut the nest off the plant allowing it to drop into a bucket of very hot water. Keep a rock handy to sink the nest to the bottom. They are nasty little things. The water should be hot enough to kill them.

RE: Green Ants

Green ants will respond to a small can of kitty cat or cat sardines and 3 drops of roundup. They take the poison back to the nest and it works for about 3 months. Jan

We were told malwash for dogs spray with that, it seemed to work and slow them down.
