Jacaranda - splitting trunk?

Reading through all the past posts I’m hoping that some of you should be able to help me out.
I have a new house and garden which is full of trees types that are new to me. One of them is a large Jacaranda. There are a couple of large splits in the bark, I have little people who like playing around the tree, so saftey is veru important to us.
I need to know are these splits growth related or something more sinister?
Below are a couple of pic of the tree.

RE: Jacaranda - splitting trunk?

It looks like the tree has been weakened by inappropriate lopping, you can see it has resprouted, it might even have been cut down and grown back. It seems to me that it has been attaked by either a fungus or a borer or both because it is weak. I would not let your kids climb it, do not attach a swing to it as one of the tree limbs might break. I would invest in a tree surgeon to assess and solve the problem.
