Propagation of Delonix from seed

| Does anyone know the best method of seed treatment for Delonix (Poinciana)? Tried snipping the end of the seed which worked but a lot of embryos rotted in the seed casing as well. Untreated seed doesn't seem to germinate - maybe hot water and stand overnight?? Jane |

| It's a thick seed coat. Try abrading it on the side opposite the mark where it was attached to the pod - sandpaper or even rub on cement/brick but NOT right through. Sow or even then soak overnight in room-temp water first |

in Cairns they do this by themselves! they must be some smart seeds or something. I think it is the heat that allows the seed coat to disintergrate and allow moisture in. but yes sandpaper does work Kris |

| They come up all over my garden here and I am constantly pulling the things out! I don't think that there is any real trick to them. Andrew. |
