Where can one obtain some of the more exotic frangipani in SE Qld, Northern NSW. There was a farm down byron bay way but I don't think it's open any more.

Hi Waldon,
I cant help you with the exotic Frangipani but have you
ever thought of planting a
Native Frangipani - Hymenosporum flavum.
They are not related to the exotic one but just as nice and smell beautiful plus ITS NATIVE :)
Any good native nursery would sell them.

RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

Red fruited ebony ? great name and great response. I've been thinking about the native one, but I still am interested if anyone deals in the fancy ones that you only read about over in the states and in particular Hawaii.

What really did happen to the byron bay place I wonder.

Hi If you want to know more about exotic colours there is a plumeria society of Australia , the address is in Your garden magazine. I have a small collection of different colours from around my local area. its amazing what we have in Australia already.
and through the society a wealth of information can be got
as well as trading of cuttings and imported hybrid seeds..

RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

Just go for a drive and look for some really big old Plumeria trees . The older suburbs are the best . Do not be shy , and just knock on the door and ask if you could have a cutting ! They are the easiest plant in the world to propagate . Just leave to dry for a few weeks , and plant in a hole . I use a crowbar , jammed down about a foot or so deep , and poke the cutting down and tamp in with the crowbar , seriously it works .Around Childers some houses have a border of many different colour flowering varieties.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a particular plumeria called 'Joshua'?I found this on a US website and would like to grow one as my husband's name is Joshua??? It may be know by another name, but they said the imported it from 'The Frangipani Farm'in Aust.

The description show on the website is as follows;

'A very popular flower, it opens as a strong red then fades to a beautiful pink . This gives the impression of multipule flower colours on the one tree. It flowers profusely and starting early in the season early and lasting through to the end. A delicate scent reminiscent of citrus and jasmine.'

If anyone can help I would be greatful.

RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

I don't know whether anyone is interested or not but on Ebay, there are several people who sell frangipani cuttings.....several different types.

Here is a link that might be useful: type

RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

You have been given a bum steer regarding the Byron Frangipani Farm. They are still operating and have a web page from which you can purchase cuttings which will be mailed to you. They have some nice varieties but you will have to mortgage the farm to be able to afford them. Their prices are way out of step with current trade and retail prices.

http://www.frangipanifarm.com/retail.htm

There is also Frangipani Heaven on the NSW Qld border. Web sales only.

http://www.users.bigpond.com/clewis1955/page7.html

The latter are not very responsive to emails but that may improve over time.

You have already been advised of the Ebay sales. However you will need to be careful here because the photograph used to entice you to bid is frequently not one of the actual plant but an image downloaded from the web. It may bear no resemblance to the item being sold. ALWAYS ASK!

Ebay prices also fluctuate wildly so be patient. If it looks too expensive just wait: the colour you want will be offered again and the competition may be less stiff.

If you are not able to get what you are looking for contact me directly at ratcliff@idl.net.au

Frangipani cuttings for sale

Just following on from David, yes I sell cuttings as mentioned by him in the last posting of this thread.

David is a wonderful customer and when we finally made contact he had discovered he was not receiving return emails from me due to issues with his server, hence his initial concern of it seeming that I was a bit slow to respond.

So folks please do not hesitate to contact me if you are looking to obtain some of the loveliest colours around.
Cheers Chris

RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

Just wondering if anyone knows of a Frangipani seller in WA who has a large variety? Or someone in the Eastern States that can post to WA?

 o
RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

We post to WA as well as sell on eBay and use photographs direct from the trees we take cuttings from unless we have a named registered cultivar that is new to us and isn't yet in flower (we have a few coming up as we're importing). I'm happy to trade cuttings and/or seeds at any point with anyone interested in frangipani, feel free to email me privately. Also happy to trade Heliconia, Gingers, any other exotics you might have. Please email me privately and I'd be happy to assist at xepermoon@kooee.com.au I have a page with quite a few varieties of collector's quality that I can share with you, also happy to strike cuttings for anyone new at it.

Hi nocraptalk, could you please tell me when would be a good time to order some off you (after Xmas) and what colours do you have.

I only have 3 different colours and they are all babies.

Welcome when you come to Centtral Queensland ( Yeppoon)
Frangipanni grow well there and there are trees everywhere, you will have no trouble getting cuttings from locals, they are friendly.
Water is a bit short at Yeppoon at the moment, it is one of those coastal towns that has new houses going up everywhere but the rain hasn't been falling to fill the watershed.

RE: Exotic Frangipani Cuttings

Thanks for the welcome Marion. I am looking forward to moving to Yeppoon.

We will be starting our garden from scratch, hope to bring my plants from NSW, though I'm not sure how they will do.

So we'll be Central Qld, sorry I didn't know what section we were.

We hope to have a vegie garden, and also grow nuts (if possible) and tropical fruits. We hope to get the kids involved and be as self sufficient as possible.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am going into a totally different climate to where I am now and would appreciate any help.

I am reasonably new to gardening...but love it. And I want my 3 kids to feel the same.

Lesley

Exotic Varieties

I'd like to make some contacts with anyone living on the East Coast of QLD interested in helping me get (or selling?) cuttings from unusual frangipani trees? I occassionally drive North from Brisbane so I'd like to meet and collect them personally.
