Waterhousea floribunda

Has anyone ever pruned a Waterhousea Floribunda (Weeping Lilly Pilly) into a "standard" shape? If so, when does one start shaping the tree?
They can grow to 10metres, but I believe one can keep them at whatever height desired by pruning twice a year. I would really like mine to be a pretty, bushy standard about 3-4 metres

I have never done one of these Vonney, but I have done many others. I think the best way is to start when the tree is quite small. I start off by removing any of the lower branches which I feel won't fit the picture, then just gently prune the top to the slightly rounded shape as desired. Don't feel you have to do it all in one go. As the tree grows just keep 'adjusting' it to suit the look and size you want. I find a little bit often works best.
Cheers,
Dee.

Thanks Deejaus - it's still quite young, but now that the Spring showers and warmth have hit Melbourne it will probably start some rapid growth - at least I hope so. I will let it get a little taller and then start shaping the top as you suggest by tip pruning lightly to the right shape. I'll take off the lowest side branches that are quite close to the ground and then review once it starts reaching the desired height?
