| Hi
I have a nice old azaelia shurb that I would like to transplant.
Does anyone know if this can be done successfully. If so what is the best procedure?

hi.marcorussian yep you can transplant azaelias, well I have I usually do them just after they have flowered, I recently had some very large ones given to me (thanks garry if you read this)and they have transplanted beautifully though when they finished flowering I did prune them by about one third and they now have new shoots coming , and because the ground is pretty wet they should take off ok ,well its pretty wet here any way(vic)at the moment, but good luck lorraine |

| Yes I have transplanted many an old plant of a favorite asaelia when I shifted house, it can be done!It has always worked for me. I usually prune the plant a little first and try not to damage the roots too much and keep it watered and in the shade untill it gets establised. They are quite forgiving. |

Being shallow rooted they transplant quite well. We have some doing very well after having been moved three times with us. Take as large a root ball as you can manage and water them in well with Seasol and you should not have any problems. John |
