Hi

I have a nice old azaelia shurb that I would like to transplant.
Does anyone know if this can be done successfully. If so what is the best procedure?

hi.marcorussian yep you can transplant azaelias, well I have I usually do them just after they have flowered, I recently had some very large ones given to me (thanks garry if you read this)and they have transplanted beautifully though when they finished flowering I did prune them by about one third and they now have new shoots coming , and because the ground is pretty wet they should take off ok ,well its pretty wet here any way(vic)at the moment, but good luck

Yes I have transplanted many an old plant of a favorite asaelia when I shifted house, it can be done!It has always worked for me. I usually prune the plant a little first and try not to damage the roots too much and keep it watered and in the shade untill it gets establised. They are quite forgiving.

Being shallow rooted they transplant quite well. We have some doing very well after having been moved three times with us. Take as large a root ball as you can manage and water them in well with Seasol and you should not have any problems.
