 o
Dry shade for chaenomeles - ornamental quince?

Posted by lou_aust Melb- Vic (My Page) on

I have a dry shady area in which ferns once grew well (until a high peppercorn tree canopy stopped sufficient water getting through). The area is a slope on the S side of the house, so pretty shady although probably classified as dappled light. Maples grow well on the edge of this area - still mostly under the tree canopy, so I wondered if some of the flowering ornamental quince shrubs would do OK in this area? Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks
