Fertilising Conifers (Bhutan Cypress)

Posted by gutterat NSW Aust (My Page) on

Hi

I have a row of 8 Bhutan Cypress Conifers, around a year old.

I was wondering when they should be fertilized...what time of year and what is best to use.

Hope someone can advise.

RE: Fertilising Conifers (Bhutan Cypress)

Hi Gutterat, now is a good time to fertilize your conifers. I like those clip-on-a-hose type fertilizers - the seaweed or fish based ones. Spray it all over the trees and on the ground and they will be happy. You can use those big tree fertilizer pellets, but I find them a bit dear. Manure and a good mulch will also work wonders. Whilst conifer do grow well in poor soil, they do amazingly well in better soil!
