What and when should I spray etc on citrus?

What would you be spraying for? Mostly citrus are free from any pests. Scale seems to be the main worry but if it is not too bad then it can be forgotten about too.
Our Eureka lemon has never been sprayed in over 10 years, no pests or scale and bears profusely.
Just enjoy your tree and don't worry.
John.

What about aphids and the scribbly marks on leaves which cause the leaves to distort badly? The former have attacked our lemon and cumquat trees, and the latter have caused most leaves on our lime and grapefruit trees to distort and eventually drop off. Also, the older lime tree leaves have small black spots which don't scrape off. Do you know what this is? Thanks.

Sorry Innyanga, don't know what they would be so perhaps you should take an affected leaf to a nursery and have an identification made. Then they might suggest a treatment for it. May be it could be the after effect of scale, and if this is so then white oil should work. When I was involved with scale problems in large areas we used fumigation which has to be done by experts as it is quite toxic to any living thing such as birds which may have roosted in the trees overnight. It has to be done after the sun has gone down of course as the heat will burn the leaves off completely.
