Benjamina ficus tree transplant

Just how far away from pipes and a poly water tank do I need to transplant my 10-ft. tall benjamina ficus tree?

Can you prune (spade-cut) the roots in a circle around an established ficus tree to control how far out the roots grow?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers.

RE: Benjamina ficus tree transplant

Ficus benjamina can grow big and have aggresive roots so best planted well away from pipes and buildings. They are a beautiful tree, we have 3 planted but they are 40 to 50m away from any buildings. I wouldn't put them much closer than say around 20m - 30m minimum but I like to err on the side of caution.
