Deciduous trees for Brisbane

Hi all, I am looking to find a deciduous tree or shrub that is able to grow in the brisbane suburbs. We want a plant that has a maple leaf look too it. Liquid amber? what else? Any thoughts? Cheers

RE: Deciduous trees for Brisbane

Have you considered a native. Brachychiton acerifolius (flame tree) has maple-like leaves as its specific name suggests, gradually loses its leaves over winter, then in mid-late spring erupts into a display of brilliant red flowers on bare branches.
