Can I use lucerne as a mulch for rhodos? Will it make my neutral soil a little more acid, which is my intention? Help please? Maddy58

Any mulch will make your soil a little more acid, but lucerne probably not very much. Any mulch is good though! Can't you get hold of fallen leaves and put them under the lucerne, or best of all, fallen pine needles. Robyn

Perhaps a garbage bag or two of pine needles from those pine forests around Canberra.

After the fires, what pine forests? Just joking. Thanks, both, for your suggestions. I think the fallen leaves under the lucerne may be what I'll do. Maddy
