Has a wonderful day in Brisbane City today and as I wanted to spend a fair bit of time at the Southbank Parklands I took my camera with me so I could get a few photos of the Woolemi Pine. I was surprised at how tall it was as I thought that it was in a smaller cage when I seen it last December but I could be wrong actually I though it was in a different part of the Park too but I could be wrong there also, blame that on old age. A nice healthy looking tree which caused a fair bit of interest to people passing by, as I noticed when I tried to take a Photo there always seemed to be someone there.............. Cheers..MM.
Close up not the best as the camera kept focusing on the bars:

| Great photos MM. Haven't seen one myself in real life as yet. I read an interesting article in Readers Digest (I think it was anyway - read it at the in-laws place a couple of weeks ago). I enjoyed the way the story was written about the history of the pine over the ages. It mentioned something about the phytophora fungus that is starting to affect the trees in the wild. Apparently it is suspected of being brought in by bushwalkers who discovered where the pine is growing. Hopefully the rangers will manage to get it under control. Thanks for the photos. |

Thanks GH...How is it that fungus being bought in, on their shoes..I remember watching something on TV years ago about it being brought in that way somewhere in Oz think it was WA and the rangers even had to disinfect their shoes before they could go into this National Park and other wore a white canvas type of overshoe maybe it will come to that there also where the Wollemi Pines grows in its natural state................. After all we have to look after these precious trees for the future......Cheers...MM. |
