was just wondering if anyone know's the name of a certain tree in Southbank, Brisbane

the trees are in front of the thertre, they border along the water display's near the path. all of them have a seat underneath them facing the river

sorry i dont have a pic, but was hoping somebody in the area might know. - i have a link to a picture on the internet - its as close to the tree as i can get, its the ones in the background on the right

Here is a link that might be useful: southbank parklands

This is not a few good pic either as I had to block all the people out, this was taken April 2006 so things could be different now..

Photobucket

These are Ficus looks like benjamina common name fig tree and are near the river but there are lots of fig trees throughout the park..

Are the leaves of this tree small & Round or long & thin, if it is the one above it would have lots of lime green leaves on it being new growth after the rain, are they a flowering tree, are there any seed pods on them you will have to give us more information if its not the one in the pic above...

Cheers Mary-Anne

M-A,
maybe a 22 year old F.obliqua because they have smaller fruit and therfore not such a clean-up problem. There is a magnificent 127 year old giant on the Main Rd. footpath outside the Wellingtion Point State School, Q4160, in front of the sold-off Principals residence. It was planted on the first Qld Arbor Day, Aug 1 1881. Its mate was blown over in a localised hurricane 7 years ago and replaced with F.platypoda.

Please ask the BCC plant database O/C because they maybe F.platypodia which are smaller and easier to manage. Regards Sweeney

I was just taking a wild guess about the ficus to help out. Very hard to recognize the trees from that link above.
