 o
A tenacious Meyer Lemon tree

I bought a Meyer Lemon tree a couple of years ago and potted it with normal potting mix in a large (around 30cm) pot. It never seemed to like me and never produced fruit. Over the years all its leaves have turned yellow and dropped off, then it has produced about a million flower buds which then all drop off. After each disaster I'd research the problem and try to act accordingly, but nothing worked. Over summer, I just stopped watering it, and it seemed to die, so I cut it back to it's trunk in preparation for dumping it.It started to reshoot, but had gall wasp, so I cut the stems off. Now, it's reshooting again, very quickly, and has one lovely flower bud.

I just don't know how to quit this plant. Is there any chance it might turn into a proper lemon tree one day? Should I persevere? Should I plant it in the garden? (I am renting, which is why I haven't done this before, but I'd rather lose it in the long run than kill it.)

Any thoughts?
