Identify unknown tree

Hello,
We live in Perth WA and I have a tree at the front of my house which I can't identify. I would like to plant more of them out the back as I have found it quite a good shade tree but I can't buy more until I know what it is! I have some photos of it which I would like to upload but as I am new, I still have to figure out how to do that!!
I will do my best to explain what it looks like....the leaves are a pale green, very glossy in a normal leaf shape, the bark is quite harsh and knobbly. There seems to be new little shoots growing off some of the roots as well. The tree is quite big - possibly 10 metres.
Without photos, I realise that it is really hard but maybe someone knows some great 'tree' websites which show close up photos of trees that might help me to identify mine. I have found a few websites but the photos are all far away and so aren't very helpful to me.
Thanks so much.

RE: Identify unknown tree

Could it be a ficus? They grow fast, and tall and can have offshoots from the roots. Does it have any fruit or flowers? Is it deciduous or not? How old is it? Answer those and we might be able to help you! otherwise, I think you need to give us some photos!
