Anyone tried Oakville Crimson Spire?

| This is a fairly new (to Australia) variety of flowering plum (prunus ceras-something). The normal variety grows well in gardens around me but I haven't got room for one. Oakville Crimson Spires is a fastigate version which reaches full height, but is only 1.5m wide.
If you have one, can you tell me if it is as tough and attractive as the 'normal' versions?

| We planted a few 'Crimson Spire' ornamental pears a couple of winters ago. It flowers in spring (beautifully) and has a single trunk but has not done a lot yet. This is most likely because it is part of a 6 acre treed area and would not get the attention it would in a suburban garden. It survived the drought, so is tough. It has a reddish leaf habit and as it gets colder the leaves get redder. It is a pretty little thing and I intend to plant more of them as the trees get bigger and I find empty spaces. Flowering plums are nice, (got some of them too) but the ornamental pears are stunning. |

| we are in the southern highlands of NSW and have planted about 20. They are grouped in different areas of the property, and the ones near the stables are deep watered every week. They are twice the size in height and width than those planted on road verge that are only watered every few weeks, or when it rains. From our limited experience with these, as with most things, the extra care and attention makes quite a difference! I should mention that they have all kept a neat fastigiate habit, and have handled the winds down here well. We will be planting more next season. |

| They're great and I recommend them to anyone. I will be planting more this season as well. |
