Brown leaves on crabapple tree

I live in Perth. I have a Malus Purpurea which was just planted. I notice the top parts of the leaves are brown, and am trying to work out whether this is because it is approaching autumn and it's a natural occurrence, or whether it's due to some kind of disease like fireblight or apple scab. It doesn't look like fireblight, because I saw pictures that showed affected leaves all curled up, but the leaves on my tree are not curled up. Just part of the leaves are brown and some leaves have whitish circles on them too. I don't think it's apple scab, because it doesn't look like that either. I'd provide a picture, but I don't have my camera with me right now. Please help me identify whether my tree is diseased or not. Thank you.

It could have dried out a bit since being planted. Sometimes the potting medium doesn't take up water, even though the surrounding soil can be quite moist, particularly if the plant is a bit root bound.

Have a poke around in the root ball and check that it is damp. If not, either set a hose on just a drip and leave it for a few hours, or set up a bottle of water with a tiny hole to drip onto the root ball. This will ensure that water actually seeps into the root ball and not into the surrounding soil.
