Pencil Pine leaning badly

Posted by Armstrong Perth Aust (My Page) on

One of my six pencil pines (appears to be a juniper really) has decided to take on a very strong lean, bending to almost 90 degrees. It has adequate moisture, I have given it fertiliser and doused its lower branches in SeaSol hoping that would give it a "pick me up" but nothing has helped. Any body know what is happening and what to do about it? It's been leaning for about 2 months now.

RE: Pencil Pine leaning badly

Is it curved over, like bending over, or is it straight but on a lean? If it is bending, have a look for holes and sawdust on the trunk near the bend - could be that beetle that attacks conifers.
