Fast growing shade tree

Hi all,
I know this question has been asked by a few other people but I was hoping to get some suggestions specific to my climate and soil conditions.
Looking for fast growing medium sized (max 12/13m)evergreen tree with spreading branches (but not too wide of course)that will provide shade for some tree ferns we plan to plant. Something that doesn't sucker or uproot foundations. Will be in full sun. Prefer the big lush looking leaves to thin ones.
Would prefer native but at this point will consider anything.
We live up in the hills around Perth. Mundaring to be exact. The soil is clay and gravel I think.
I'm a VERY novice gardener so something hardy would be best. Not asking for much am I..... |
