I am looking for a small number of viable seeds or seedlings of Chinese fir [Cunninghamia lanceolata]
and Monkey Puzzle [Araucaria araucana] to add to my Araucaria & relatives collection. Must be easy to get from
near Brisbane. Also, does anyone have any of the Araucarias from new Caledonia ? |

| Hi Phillip.I have some cuttings of Cunninghamia lanceolata that were planted last August '04 and are growing well.I also have some more advanced trees approx 30 cm or so that I struck from cuttings the year before.I could also give you some cuttings (from shoots growing from the soil line)as well.Let me know what you would like however the best chance of anything surviving transport in the mail is in the winter so if you could wait till then would be better.I've found these to be extremely easy to grow from cuttings (nearly as easy as Geraniums)using hormone rooting powder and a sandy potting mix. They love water and don't seem to mind the heat. They tend to colour a coppery green in winter then revert to the normal deep green in spring. They are very prickly and I guarantee kids will not climb them!I also have two cuttings of Cunninghamia lanceolata "glauca" as well but they have only just been struck so are a bit of a way to go yet.Sorry but can't help with the monkey puzzle tree but I might know where you could get some small ones sent via mail(only in winter though)so let me know and I'll give you details. Regards C.N. |
