Roses suitable for Port Macquarie

Merry Christms all! My brother has moved to Port Macquarie and my Christmas present to him is that I'm going to spend some weekends up there with him to plan and plant out a garden. I'd be keen for advice from anyone living in that area. He wants roses, particularly a row of red standards. Can anyone recommend roses that will do well in that area? I am most wary of black spot as he'll happily snip and shape, but probably won't remember to spray regularly. Thanks in advance!

How far from the beach and salt spray? This can be a debilitating factor. Is he up on the bluff or out the back? He can expect blackspot if growing modern roses, and should spray to keep it under control.

Not quite sure but not directly on nor near the beach: wouldn't get salt spray.
