A while back there was a thread about weeping roses.

Can someone point me in the right direction or remember the thread. It was about grafting on to a special stock as this member was going to try and have a go at making a weeping rose herself it could even have been a standard I forget now . I have searched repeatedly typeing in different subjects but cannot find it.

I have this carpet rose "Sea Foam " but it is growing a lot wider than the metre it suppose to. Its turning into a giant Octopus with arms and legs everywhere so I will have to move it later anyway I though I would have a go at grafting if I could get the stock and there was so much info on that thread and I have no idea how to go about it as I have never grafted anything before. I have made quite a few weeping bougainvillea that was easy as there was no grafting involved.

Looking forward to some help from you clever Rose people out there ...Cheers..MM.

Hi MM-I remember the thread-can't remember who posted it or the title though-hopefully some one will.
Seafoam would make a lovely weeper I think.

RE: A while back there was a thread about weeping rose

I have taken about 20 pieces of some overgrown multiflora, before digging it out and discarding it. The pieces are about 70cm long, and i bundled them together and planted in soil in a large pot. They are putting out leaves and appear to have some root growth. I might try the same with Dr Huey, as I seem to have a number of plants around the place from the previous owner's roses. I quite like DH in bloom, so they have evaded the axe :-) I would be interested in some advice re grafting if any one is up to it, otherwise i guess i will dig out a book on the subject. I particularly want to know how you deal with all the leaf growth on the actual root stock. Cheers, Jan

I came across this site. I don't know if it of use to either of you (MM & Jan). At the bottom of the page there are a couple of other links. Hope it helps....Cheers, Dee.

Here is a link that might be useful: Grafting & stenting roses

That's exactly what I thought MM. I don't think I would be bothered , I think it's easier to buy it ready done. Still, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who gain immense enjoyment from such things....Cheers, Dee.
