Just Joey?

Dear All

My inherited rose has bloomed.Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

That's the first photo. The second is my standard JJ.

They are pretty much dead ringers in colour, fragrance and foliage. I think the bush is slightly less ruffled, but is there a rose so much like JJ?

Both so beautiful I have a JJ Standard and have just been taking a pic of the flower it has.
Its a fight with the caterpllars up here to keep a bud on the plant most come inside in a vase.
It is certainly a beautiful rose, enjoy them both. Great Pics.
Cheers..MM.

The closest I can think of in colour and bloomform to your bush if it is NOT Just Joey is maybe Apricot Nectar.
Maybe woth checking out?

Hi Sandie

Apricot Nectar is flowering just in front of the standard JJ. It's a much paler creature.
I think I'm in luck and have two JJs.

Looks very like my JJ. How big is the bush, mine is not big at all.

RE: Just Joey?

Hi Judy

It's about a metre tall and about as wide. Lots of canes, several new basal shoots, about 10 blooms at present. It's at least six years old, much older than anything else in my garden.

My big mistake was to plant Julia's Rose next to JJ. I love the dramatic colour of JR and it's a bit overwhelmed by the brightness of JJ on either side. But it's growing beautifully and flowering generously. I can't see why it's described as needing extra care, or perhaps all of mine are coddled.

I think you're right - it's a JJ. However, Brandy is a possibility. I have both but after I had to transplant them twice I now don't know which is which except Brandy is possibly taller. JJ is quite a short bush. Apricot Nectar - I have 2 - is a floribunda. All are beautiful, especially in this wonderful season we are having.

RE: Just Joey?

Long live Aprict Nectar.Such a beautiful and hardy rose and no wonder it's survived 40 years in the plant trade. And we could praise JJ just as highly.I have replanted both these roses in my garden this year after doing without for some time.Have not tried brandy yet.
