For Thrip ' You asked about my Julia's Rose.'

Hi Thrip, Julia's Rose well its only a newie you see I had it mail-ordered from Victoria in June and its a standard, so I have to give it at least a couple of seasons before I start knocking it to much. So far the plant itself if going OK, it has had a little BS but no PM yet, though I did use a organic homemade spray recently, and have also sprayed with Triforne when it first got all its leaves. I have had a lot of trouble with bud worms, caterpillars and every other insect you can think of (except snails I have yet to see one in Qld) as they like it very much so I have sprayed once for them too. It does not ball but the flowers tend to fade a lot turning a dusty pink when full blown.

It did not perform very well during those hot dry windy days we had last month but quite a few of my others didn't either, and I find now that we are having the cooler weather it is looking so much better, and when I sited this new garden bed I put it that way that it only got a few hours of Late/Spring/Summer Sun in the morning (more at other times) and was shaded by the 6mtx6mt shed and tall gum trees in the heat of the day. I will say it does not get any special treatment more than my others do. This pic would be day two and was taken earlier this month after a drop of Liquid Sunshine note the fading of the older bloom nodding.

This was taken on Friday, sorry not a very good pic as I had to crop it to a 2cmx3cm size
from the middle of a much bigger pic so that you could see the colour.
One of these blooms would have been that bud pic in the other posting.

I have added a link to a posting I put on in early Oct it is a little hard to see but if you look at the first
Collage with Julia's Rose in it you will see that the outer edge of the petals is a bit on the white side.
And that had nothing to do with the light or the camera it was bleached a bit with the sun.
I think it is worth a try, but then I am a softie with plants and will have a go at anything...Cheers..MM.

RE: For Thrip ' You asked about my Julia's Rose.'

Thankyou very much once again Misty.Julias Rose is looking like she's well worth a try. From what you've shown I can see she does not hold that coffee colour right through to the end but her colour changes are very beautiful non the less.
That early heatwave knocked some of our roses around too but once it passed they resumed growth and flowering in no time. It's just amazing how emotionally tied we avid gardeners and growers get to the success of our plants from day to day.I think this is however a sign of a true passion within us all. With passion such as this, we experience great lows when the chips are down, but very rewarding highs when we are finally allowed behold the fruits of our labour. Personally, I'd rather the day to day, highs and lows (or is that week to week) than to remain half committed to my pursuits.
I'd better stop now before I ramble anymore Misty. I was going to delete that last bit I wrote, but then what's the forum worth if we can't share something rather than technical information from time to time. I think I'd better hurry up and post some photo's of my favorite roses soon (now I've been shown how).I always enjoy the pictures which other forum members post.
Thankys again Misty
Thrip
