amazing, beautiful entrancing - you name it.
Renee weeper covered in bloom, all the others flowering in masses, the climbers down on the fence all beeautiful.
Alister Clark's Milkmaid = what a lovely sweet perfume.. winding arms with Albertine, Martha, Kitty Kininmonth,
Madame Gregnoire, with her mauve clematis winding through her - to see it under lights it to be in a fairy story
Only Seafoam loafs, covered in buds but late late late...compared to the rest in that area, White Wings, looks like it's covered in butterflies, even if this only lasts for the next couple of weeks, it's been worth all the work..
so worth all the work.
Only wish I had the video camera here so I could re-live it in the hot summer months... Are the rest of the Victorians enjoying the same treat? |

Oh yes!!!!! The roses this year seem to be bigger-- more buds /blooms on the plants and very pretty. We have had some wild weather here the last 2 days and they have suffered a bit of bruising so not looking their best...wouldnt you know...the very day I invited 2 of my aunts to come and see the garden!! The foxgloves were falling over and the pale roses were bruised. Pierre de Ronsard-huge beautiful blooms but bruised now Charles de Gaulle-fabulous perfume Fionas Wish--wonderful warm colours Heritage--sweet perfume Jude the Obscure--just starting to open up the buds now Its wonderful really. Also the strawberries are fruiting, tomatoes growing strongly. Here is a pic of Pierre De Ronsard.I hope to train it up the brick wall on a trellis,it has really come on this year since I relocated it.

| This is my first spring with roses and it's been wonderful. I've been ducking out regularly to take photos before the next wind takes the petals away. I think I'm developing a passion for Hybrid Musks, Buff Beauty is just fabulous and totally unphased by the weather. We're going away on Saturday for 10 days and I'm going to miss the Bonicas in full flight, hopefully Lady Hillingdon and Aotearoa will bloom before we go. |

Yes! and here in WA we are enjoying spring weather still. The roses are wonderful except the ones the snails got and we must soak up the beauty before the harsh sun comes and tones them down a bit. Our PdeR is also doing really well I will try and upload a pic. Andy |

Can't say the same for Qld as the early heat/humidity is reducing our flower size, but then we cut many of our blooms off (propagation)just as they begin to look fantastic, so lucky us ........I think. Thrips |

Yes it was a wonderful display here in Melbourne, then we had a lot of rain & humidity, & now wind & thrips, so they spoiled very quickly, I've had better results spraying for Black Spot this year also, but just a couple of later varieties with buds on still, like Fragrant Cloud & Julia's rose, my new Valencia had blind shoots to begin with, but has one little bud forming, so I am anxiously waiting for my first flower there, Cheers Yvonne F. |

Up until this week its been excellent in the Newcastle area. We've actually had a coolish spring, and all the roses bloomed so well and it was such a pleasure to look at healthy bushes with no BS.High temps, recent rain and high humidity in the last couple of days is changing all that, but I'm still happy. This year I'm planning to do my winter prune probably in Feb/March and hopefully have good Aut/winter flushes. Pam. |

| Our mild, wet spring has certainly been good for the roses. Everywhere I go I am impressed by the roses. My own garden was a picture on Melbourne Cup Day, but then some hot humid weather and two downpours in the past week have spoiled them, and I have been around the garden three times, deadheading, to keep it looking beautiful. However the Icebergs and the Seductions which were a little behind the majority of the roses in my garden have survived the battering in the rain and are smothered with flowers at present. As the first of my roses have now been in the ground for three years, I am appreciating their maturity, and noticing more perfume wafting around (as opposed to having to stick my nose in the flowers). |

Love to see some piccies!!!!! We certainly have been fortunate here in NW Vic to have such a mild, wet spring as well. This is the first year in my new garden and the roses are all shooting away. The wind is a constant problem here as the wind breaks are still v. small. The hedge of Clark's Squatters Dream and Lady Huntingfield are looking very promising. The trellis has been planted with Traverser, Cecily O'Rorke, Nora Cunningham, Daydream, Cecily Lascelles, Gwen Nash, Kitty Kinninmonth, Ringlet, Cherub and many more Clark climbers/ramblers. Hoping it will look good in a few years. Cassie |
