Question re Charlie Carp

Hi everyone

I read somewhere that you can use Charlie Carp as a foliar spray.
I am a bit vague about where I got this info and may well have got it wrong, but anyway ,I mixed it as per the directions and watered the leaves with CC.I did this about 3 days ago.
A few days later I see many of the leaves have got brown edges and are a bit shrivelled up- not looking very healthy..not green and healthy like usual. This was worse on some more than others.
Could I have accidently burnt the foliage by using CC in this way?
Today was windy so I hosed the foliage to remove the remains of CC.
I have used CC many times over the years ,used as a fertiliser straight to the soil.
I think the leaves will grow back and replace the damaged ones soon enough .
What do you think?
Michelle

Michelle

I have used CC on my gardens in the past and don't recall any damage to the rose's foliage. However, I applied it using the packs you click on the hose, so perhaps it was more diluted.

I've been hosing or watering can applying where the hose won't reach, CC, very frequently, for a long time with only good effect.

Thanks
I dont know what I have done!
The CC is obviously ok as you both have used it in the same way.
Not to worry.Thanks again

RE: Question re Charlie Carp

Was it a warm day when you applied the CC? Also do you use the spray pack to apply other things to the garden? Other substances may not have been cleaned out of the spray pack and possibly reacted with the Charlie Carp to burn the leaves. A dilute solution of Charlie Carp sprayed on to the roses leaves should be fine.

RE: Question re Charlie Carp

Thanks Vivienne
Yes I think you are correct.
It was a warm day and I think the solution was too strong..I dont think I was precise enough with the mix.

Hi again
Well I did everything as suggested but it was hopeless.
My DH has taken it to the farm where he hopes to revive it.
He said it never developed a root system in its new spot and he was able to pull it out easily.
Now I know what was wrong I feel better about it.(I mean giving up on the plant)
So...vale Perfect Moment.
I will get another one next year as a bare root and start again.
cheers

RE: Question re Charlie Carp

Oh dear I have posted this previous message in the wrong forum!!
Sorry.
About CC.
I now remember that I sprayed the roses with another product and didnt wait long enough and applied it again too soon.
The leaves are burnt on the edges.
It has nothing to do with CC after all !!!!!
I will wait now until new leaves appear in time.
cheers
Michelle
