not Rugosa Alba

Hi all,
I have had a pleasant surprise with my Rugosa hedge. I bought 4 Rugosa Alba and 4 Scabrosa and while one of the whites is Rugosa Alba at least 2 of the others are not, as you can see from the not so great photos.

The doubles are beautiful, and just the same fragrance as the singles, so I'm not complaining, but does anyone know whether it's Blanc Double de Coubert or not?

Many thanks too, to RoseDreamer for the Photobucket instructions.Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

I don't know what they are suesette but they look very healthy. Glad I could help with Photobucket.

It could be Schneezwerg, it has yellow stamens like the bottom photo.

I think I settled the question to my satisfaction yesterday. I rushed through Merri River Roses in Warrnambool and saw BDdC. That's what I've got.

If you're ever in W'bool it's a great place to visit. There's a large rambling garden with heaps of old fashioned roses in very mature form. Lots of HTs as well. There are lots of perennials, many with names attached, which I find particularly interesting.

The owners are friendly and helpful, and very enthusiastic about old-fashioneds. I could have spent a fortune but didn't have the car space. It was great to be able to say, "What do you have in Hybrid Musks?" and be given a choice of five. I had to settle on Felicia and Autumn Delight.

Happily my daughter lives nearby so I can get back soon for some Rugosas. There are a few I can't live much longer without. The Sally Holmes I bought there last year has taken off in a very pleasing way.

It's not just around the corner from many places, but if you were making a weekend of it Portland isn't too far away and the roses in the home gardens in Western Victoria are just spectacular.
