growing a rose on colourbond fence?

I want to grow something on my colourbond fence. BUT it also has to be grown in a large pot because of a concete path. I want to espalier it as want to keep it to the height of the fence. The fence will get very hot in summer getting full sun all day. I was thinking of brillant pink iceberg since its fair vigorous, or I may try citrus trees.
Has anyone ever tried this? |

I have a line of rose along my cream coloured (with slate coloured framing) colourbond fence. The roses are: - Altissimo (3) - Graham Thomas - Jaune Deprez - Westerland - Celine Forestier - Mermaid - Sombreuil - Mme Alf Carriere - Pierre De Ronsard - Guinee The fence is north facing and all the family are doing just fine. They are in a raised bed above heavy clay and get all the normal requirements, chicken manure, compost and water. Have you considered cutting a hole (a square) in the concrete to plant each rose in the soil? It's easily done with an angle grinder (cheap to hire). |

Wire attached to galvanised poles Meryl. The poles are painted the same colour as the colourbond framing. Gavan |

| Must be a gorgeous site Gavan - and a very long fence with some of them like Mermaid on there. Would love a photo sometime. |

I've been meaning to get a digital camera. I want one of good quality, without paying a ransome, but don't know the market. I'll have a look on ebay. Gavan |
