Hi all
Thought I would give advance notice of the Spring Rose Show held at Mt Waverley.
It will held on 5 & 6 November,
Sat 5th from 2.pm -7pm
Sun 6th from 10am-5pm
at
Mt Waverley Community Hall
Cnr Stephensons Rd and Millar Cres,Mt Waverley.
I missed this last year and made sure I wouldnt miss it this year!
Do many of the forum members attend this show?
I'll be there for sure :))

Michelle are you going to exhibit your roses.
Or just going to test out the waters so to speak.

| I'll be there a week early. Thats when the Victorian Iris Society show is on (Cup weekend Sunday - 11.00). $4 for adults, children get in free. Irises make a great companion plant for roses, and can be even more addictive :-) |

MM I am thinking about it. I went to the show the year before last and would feel confident to enter something:))
I will research on the rules etc.
Thanks for remembering that I was considering entering a show.
If I dont enter it will be a great day or two-I may have to go on both days!I live about 10 minutes away.

I'll be at the Rose Show both days. I'll be the distracted blond woman racing around the hall putting out the prize cards Saturday afternoon and the tired one without the grey hair behind the trading table most of Sunday. Michelle your schedule should arrive with your Rose News sometime next week. That is were you will find the rules.

| Oh ! will someone take a picture of Younquinn with the rose doing the Flamingo, Please. I hope you show one or two of your Roses in the show, it is a great emperience and you just never know, yours may be the perfect rose the Judge is looking for. Marion |

Yes I received the book and rules today.Its great to get the booklet especially when my name is in it as a new member:))
The booklet with the rules is very helpful and I am very tempted to enter something...was thinking along the lines of enetring something in the display section.
Anyway I'll give it some thought.
Meanwhile my roses better get on with it and start blooming or I wont have anything to show!!

| Missed this show by one week - what's it all about? Is it just to show off what you've managed to grow or can you buy roses too as natually I'm a sucker for anything related to this topic like the rest of you ! Janine |

| Janine there were lots of roses to buy as well as look at. They had people from the State Rose Garden and a couple of commercial growers as well as all the exhibits. I actually fell in love with a rose called Violina there with a superb fragrance. It was a good show sorry you missed it. |

I thought the show was enjoyable and interesting.
I bought a Delbard "La Jago" ...am still waiting for delivery!

Is the Violina colour like Belle de Crecy, or Violette or more pink in tone like Mme Isaac Pereire?

The rose Violina is a beautiful, highly scented ,pale pink rose.
I was completely struck by the perfume and large size blooms.
I wanted to buy one there and then but wasnt able too.
If you go to "helpmefind" web site you may see it there with pictures.
I havent tried myself but see how you go
