climbers in shade

i am now living in a retirement village and do literally have a pocket handkerchief garden but have managed to fit about a dozen roses into the sunny front garden. the back is to the south and very shady in winter. along the back fence i have an iceberg climber but outside my computer room have a bare fence. any ideas for a climber which will have shade in winter and a small amount of afternoon sun in summer.

How about scented trachelospermum jasminoides? Don't think a rose will bloom in such gloom. Or a pandorea, maybe. I've seen them massed with bloom in similar circs.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Go for another type of climber that will genuinely enjoy the situation. I reckon you'd get more satisfaction from that than from a rose that wouldn't be quite happy. The contrast could set the roses off too. Star jasmine as suggested by Meryl, would be good.

I know this is not what you want to hear but I also agree with Snodge and Meryl.
Star jasmine has a lovely perfume or what about one of the mandevillas or hardenbergia (native wisteria).
