I suppose my first roses of the season was Souvenir de St Anne as well. I have however had something flowering for most of winter. Usually one of the Tea Roses. Old Blush, Cramoisi Superior and Slater's Crimson China have had flowers for most of winter. Vivienne |

I am only just seeing the tiniest, tightest buds on my roses. Souv de St Anne's has been on my wish list for a couple of years (closest thing to my name), but don't know where to place it. After that beautiful picture I might just have to order it for next year and find a place to put it when it arrives. Ann |

| Vivienne, one of the very dark navy geraniums that you gave me is flowering. Also the pale blue dainty iris. I noticed Climbing Queen Elizabeth showing a flower too. She may even beat the others and open first. |

| I have been watching and waiting since this thread was first posted. Silver Jubilee won the race in my garden this year, closely followed by Duet who is planted next to it. Peacekeeper has one flower and a couple of the miniatures (but they don't count). Also several of the Icebergs have one flower each. I pruned a little earlier than usual this year; also pruned the floribundas first. They are usually slower to respond, and so they will be flowering with the hybrid teas this year. Can't wait for the rest of them to bloom - there are so many buds!!! |

| My garden is new but Mme Gregoire Stachelin is blooming (right outside my bedroom window and I see her when I wake), as well as Safrano, Mr Tillier, Souv. d'un Ami, Mrs Herbert Stevens, Comptesse Calya, Canary Bird and my new gigantea has a bloom! Very exciting. And my renae hedge has always got some blooms and so has crepuscle on my verandah. And dark lady is also starting. I must take some pics! |

Crepuscule and Mutabilis bloomed all through winter and Lamarque and Climbing Sutter's Gold had a winter flush also. My first spring bloomer was Climbing Souvenir de la Malmaison-followed by Banksia Lutea,Ash Wednesday,Duchess de Brabant,Serratipetala- and for his first full flush -Park's yellow tea scented china-or what is in commerce within Australia as this rose.He is so gorgeous-another new love.:) Climbing white Maman Cochet is starting to bloom. An unknown climber(bought as a mini at a market)has opened a couple of flowers-small single and white-I am inclined to think it is one of the musk roses. The excitement is rising-got to love spring roses. regards sandie |

Just a thought for Ann (Bluebell Riverina). You may already know but there is another rose with Ann in it's name which was bred by Ian Spriggs (president Oz Rose Breeders Soc.). It's name is Annies Song . Not sure if that suits you but just a thought.Have admired it in the Ross Roses catalogue. Mrs Thrip (I'm an Anne too ....but with an "e") |

| Thanks Mrs Thrip, Yes I do know about Annie's Song - Annie from Qld recommended it; she says hers does very well. I got one a couple of years ago via mail order, but it did not thrive and died. I really should try it again in a different position. There was a rose in the sixties called Ann Elizabeth, (that's me) from which many other roses were bred, but it seems that it is no longer available. sob sob! I have roses in my garden for my family: Husband: Betty Up"richard" Mother: Mary Rose Brother: Camp David Sister in Law: Susan Brother: going to get Ernest's Blue Must look out for one for each of my four boys - their names haven't come easily on roses. Ann - one crazy rose grower! |
