Early buds - Keep or Remove ?

| I was told that any new buds should be removed at this time of year. Roses were pruned last month and have excellent new leaves with about 5 or 6 of my roses with new buds coming on. I've got 24 rose plants all up I think.
Should I lop them off to give more power to the plant or keep them and hopefully have early blooms ?
Remember I'm in Brisbane. Advice welcomed. |

| Hi My climbing Crepuscule brand newie was planted last month and I have noticed that it has little clusters of buds about four lots and the plant is only about 40cms tall, but there is no way I will lop mine off, thats why they are budding early because we are in Brisbane. Keep them on I say and enjoy the early ones as believe me sometimes they are the best as the weather gets hotter you get problems. Cheers...MM |

| Hi Waldon, I don't think I could bring myself to chop the buds off my roses. I pruned in May and July and the buds are quite big. Hopefully one of the guru's will answer your post. I'm posting for another reason as well, we would love you to come along to the SE Qld get together at New Farm Park on the 4th Sept. We even have people flying down for the day and driving from Toowoomba for it. If you need a lift sing out as we are coming from all over Brisbane and someone will be able to pick you up on the way. It's a lot of fun and such a mixture of experience from a couple of months of being hooked on roses to many years. Cheers, Brissy |
