don't usually like lavender roses but this one...

This is one of the roses I rescued last year...I don't usually like lavender/mauve roses. To me they always look as though someone has left a purple rose too long in the sun and it faded.
However, this one was one of the few that looked half-way decent so I picked it up anyway.
Boy, am I glad I did.
As you can see, the bud is just beautiful, long and elegant with a tinge of deep pink around the edges that mainly disappears by the time it's fully open BUT the perfume is simply divine. Equally as good as Papa Meilland (or was that Mr Lincoln?) or Double Delight.

My sister grows Charles as well and I've tried a couple of times to strike it but with no luck...as per usual.
It has a great perfume, too, doesn't it?

My Charles de Gaulle is the only rose I have ever had literally die on me. It just never did anything. I now have Lagerfield (my daughter - or was it my brother - bought for me) Neither one of them would admit to helping me with my adiction. I also have Blue Moon (one of my very first roses). I love them all.

Lovely pics. What is the rose you posted Annie. I don't mind lavender roses. I've got the mini Orchid Lace. I quite like it.

ooopppps! I forgot to mention that little detail, didn't I?
It's Lagerfield or Lagerfeld (forget the exact spelling).
Another thing, those two roses lasted, at least, a week as well.
I had them near my computer so I could smell them.
How do you like the vases?
