| can anyone tell me if I take a cutting from a climbing rose will it grow as a climber? or is it the root stock that determines it to be a climber? |

Hi, The cutting from the rose will be the same as the rose provided that you take the cutting from above the graft, some roses do better than others on their own roots so you would be best finding out if the particular rose that you want will thrive on it's own roots first to avoid dissappointment. If you can tell us which rose we can find out for you. |

Hi, sorry it took me so long to get back to you, yes this can be grown as an own root rose, it will be a bit longer time in establishing from what i read but it should do very well as they are sold publicly by a small rose farm as an own root and one would assume they wouldn't sell it if it wouldn't survive ! good luck. P.S. don't forget if you haven't grown cuttings before then take a few in case some don't survive strike them together in one pot and wait at least 2 to 3 months before checking for roots, i had a cutting throw a bloom while it had no roots, ( very small and misshapen but a bloom none the less) so patience is definately the key here! |
