Those K-Mart Delbards

A month ago I bought a Delbard, Camille Pissaro, from K-Mart, the price then being $15.00. Today I was in K-Mart, had a look at the Delbards and they are now only $5.00....if only I had waited. Even when I bought the first one I was not aware of the price, the ticket for the Delbards was nowhere to be seen but there was a ticket for other roses at $6.95, so the $15.00 price took me by surprise at the checkout.

I did buy another one today, Nahame.

I was in KMart today and had another look at the roses. The Delbards were still $14.95 and looked a lot deader than before. I'm glad I got mine while it was still less dead. At least it's all leafy now. The lot I saw today wouldn't have been worth $5.00.

LOL...K-Mart do have a bit of a reputation of neglecting their plants. It's no use putting some young thing in charge who would rather be on the sound counter. However, I find Hurstville K-Mart generally much better than others, you can notice a difference when the woman in charge is away and it is left to others. Admittedly, they did have a trolley full of roses for only $3.00, not Delbards, which were very tired and dejected looking. I do wish, though, that they didn't have all those dreadful plastic arrangements...ugh.

I got two Delbards from K-mart - Nahema climber and the one called bordure nacree , a smaller grower suitable for a pot I read. They had a few dollars off too -$8.00 . Good condition but you had to go through the boxes of roses to get the good ones. I think the staff are too lazy to water them which is a shame.

RE: Those K-Mart Delbards

I was originally going to order some Delbards from Rankins Direct, but on seeing them in K-mart bought them there when they had 15% off. Admitted was going to buy standards which you wouldn't of got at k-mart, but since I'd never seen these roses growing opted for the cheaper bushes first to see what there like.

I can certainly relate to impluse buying, if I'm getting a bargain will buy any rose I havn't got.

Problem is now have 211 bushes and with 7 bushes still to find a home in the ground!!!
