Moving Old Roses Urgently

I rather urgently need some expert advice on this !

My elderly mother is leaving her home of 70 years and would like me to take about half a dozen of her rosebushes there and re plant them here at my home where she will now be living.

The roses are very old. Can someone tell me whether this is likely to be successful and any hints as to how to do it.

I was thinking perhaps I should cut them right back first then dig out but I am not sure. Also how long I could leave them wrapped etc before I re planted them here.I don't have any garden beds ready yet.

They are mainly hybrid teas I think and include, from memory, a Hadley's, A Peace, A Speck's Yellow, A Lady Hillingdon, A Princess Margaret and a Queen Elizabeth. That's as far as I or my mother can remember. She is 99 years old so some of the names may not be accurate !

We only have a few days unfortunately to get this done.

I am in Perth and the weather is still very mild. The bushes are all in good condition and seem very healthy - most of them are still in bloom.

Thank you to anyone who could help me with this.

RE: Moving Old Roses Urgently

Just a follow up to those who so kindly sent me advice and suggestions - just in case my email response to them went astray.

The roses seem to have survived the shift and in spite of some recent (unusual) frosts in Perth I am very hopeful that they will thrive.

The timing was so right because these old roses were planted by my mother and father as a memorial garden for my brother who was killed in an air crash 51 years ago.

My mother was so pleased that I was able to move them here and she sat in the sun and watched me as I started my own "memorial rose garden" here. It is now a family garden because she passed away just a few weeks later.

Thank you again to everyone for your interest and suggestions. My father was the real green thumb of the family but I am sure he also would be so pleased to see these old beauties in their new home and, come October, blooming their heads off again!
