What size pots are best ??

O.K. I have the Rose virus, I must say it hasn't hurt too much yet but I am off to buy a Double Delight tomorrow.

My question is, what size pot is best to plant them in as they are going to live their lives in a pot and not the ground here.

I have seen them in all sizes and wondering if the large washing machine tubs are maybe too large, I know they will send me broke buying good potting mix for them so was wondering if something smaller is as good or better.

Hi Marion
its the age old story
My advice is buy what you can afford .A rose should be okay for up to 3 years in a 12" pot, as the plant grows there is no harm in repotting it to a larger one .The difficult part of it all is keeping the water up to them they would need atleast a litre of water a day over the warmer months

Thanks Bomber,
Went to town and saw a couple of Mum's old favourites, Double Delight and Imp and then to my joy there was a lovely plant, all by itself, a climber Cecille Brunner.
so I came home with 3 more, now there are 5 in pots.
Oh well, I guess I could go and spend the money on the pokies for no reward, at least the roses will give us some pleasure.
