RE: pruning

Sorry I cannot help you here as I only grow Standards, ground covers, ramblers climbers and Mini's

I am surprised that you cannot get *Help* from the ones that know it all here, they get on to my posts fast enough.

Have a look at the link below plenty of info there with photo's to HELP.

Here is a link that might be useful: Pruning Roses

RE: pruning

What is your bush rose specifically? Bush roses can include species roses which do not like to be pruned hard, so I just lightly shape my gallicas and Damasks.
Floribundas can cope with a hard prune in winter, or you could constantly deadhead them, just cutting as if you were cutting stems for a vase. This will keep them in shape all year. It really depends on how you want them to look. I do a bit of both. I dead head a couple of times over the summer, and I prune hard in July (well over 100 roses). The hard prune allows me to get into the garden beds and give them a thoroughly good weeding, and manure and mulch them without getting thorns in my scalp.
The deadheading keeps them flowering through into late Autumn. Hope that helps. I think everyone else must be digging their garden beds. Autumn is such a great time for gardening.

Been trying to prune my hybrid tea roses, some standards and find it a bit hard to decide which branches to prune off. Too many of them growing out all over the place. Is it correct to prune down to only 3 branches pointing outwards? I have left them to grow too much and now the pruning will have to be very hard. Will the cuttings strike easily if pushed into the ground or in pots? Some I have left in bukets of water and these don't seem to be growing or leafing. The bushes are already starting to leaf, reddish in colour. Some of my roses didn't stop flowering this Winter, a small number have flowers now. Will growth hormones really help? I have tried to graft 3 different coloured roses on to another rose bush but have not succeeded. Even same coloured grafts have not succeeded, maybe I am not doing it correctly.
