What size pots?

I'm psyching myself up to pot up cuttings I planted together in a small pot last July and that took root over the season. How big a pot should they each go in? I know they'll ultimately need 50cm diameter pots each, but should I start with something smaller?

I usually pot up progressively.Starting with a size pot that accomodates the roots easily but where the rose isn't lost in the pot.
That way they take up less room and are easy to access to water and feed etc.

I'm not convinced you need more than 40 cm for a full size rose, so long as it has a good water supply or water well.
