| I planted roses for the first time last year and I am hooked. When members refere to DA's,do they mean David Austin roses. Could someone recommend their favourite, as I would like to grow one. |

| Currently I only have DA's "Heritage". She's a beauty. I got her this year in Jan - and she's still flowering - it's Autumn - no sign of pests or diseases. I would recommend her as a beginner's rose. In the past, I had Grahma Thomas and Teasing Georgia - but I had trouble growing them. Heritage loves seasoil - mix it with water, and the result is outstanding!

| Some of us use DA as shorthand to avoid calling them English roses. DA is not the only Englishman to breed lovely roses. My favourite is Winchester Cathedral, a tireless bloomer. Golden Celebration is another hard working rose, repeats beautiful blooms with astonishing speed. Gertrude Jekyll is wonderful, Prospero flowers almost continually, as do Sophy's Rose and Lillian Austin. I find the "old" DAs more satisfactory than the new. Sue |
