Mary Magdalene's fragrant pond

| I've been talking about it, but never actually showing how beautiful it is. So I'll try to redempt my sins: Mary Magdalene, bathing with yellow Friesia, both filling the air with beautiful fragrances of their own.
And for a second, you can say those are lotus flowers actually, not roses. But I think that even a lotus flower, bathing in some tropical, calm, glittering emerald pond is trying to steal some of the beauty unique to a rose only.

Hi Tom..She is certainly the Queen of flowers the Rose ( Next to the Hibiscus for me )
But with thousands of different shapes and colours the Rose wins all the time.
Your Mary Magdalene is delightful, but as you say only for a second does it look like a Lotus flower.
The Friesia comes up well too... A great Pic and lovely presentation....Cheers....MM. |

Mary Magdalene is an English rose bred by David Austin (visit www.davidaustinroses.com for more details). It's a charmng little rose, that will grow up to 1m maybe, and is always opulent in blooms, even as a baby (mine is just 6 months old and is always in bloom!). Because it grows into a compact and rounded shrub, and has excellent fragrance and flower shape, I find it especially suitable for front rows of your rosebeds. I have few of them, growing in front of my Falstaff, Fantin Latour, Leda, and Centifolia Variegata.
In Victoria, I can see it's in Treloar's catalogue, in WA you can find it at Roworth's (for sure -- see www.roworth.com.au) and Melville Nurseries have it in catalogue too.
I'm not sure if Laurie has it, but I think it's well worth to have it and to grow it.
