Leafcutter Bees

| Those little leafcutter bees are out in full force and the leaves of my roses looks like some kid has gone rampant with a cookie cutter.
Yes I know they won't kill the plant and they're good little pollinators AND I like having the flowers, but my baby rose plants are looking a little sad.
Does anyone know of a natural deterrent....something that they don't like, but isn't fatal? |

Hi Nadia ....My Pest and Diseases book says Control is not necessary
And when they don't give a Organic remedy that's good enough for me,
I have heaps of opening buds at present and no damage to the flowers.
Please remember they are natures little helpers, best to leave then be.

If the plants are small can you make up a frame of fly netting and put them over the roses? That will protect your roses and not harm the bees. Large plants should be able to look after themselves.

| Rose gossip: yesterday I logged into the 2006 Treloars rose catalogue, but the site is down again, it says it's to be updated at the end of March sometime. Anyone else getting the 2006 page? |

No I cant get into the treloars site.
Maybe we will have to wait,although surely they would be gearing up for the bare root season.
Good to hear about the LC bees.I have a couple of roses thay have been affected...I didnt know until now what it was so I will leave them be.Its only a few roses so I'm not going to worry about them.
