Rose mosaic virus

I have two Scharlachglut that both have magnificent flowers and go to 6 feet without any trouble each summer, but they are marred by yellow irregular patches on the leaves that I swear have to be rose mosaic. Some years back when I mentioned it to Susan Irvine she said there was none in Australia! Well, maybe I was the first...but I noticed this year that a few traces have popped up on a Commandant Beaurepaire. I know which wholesale rose supplier these roses came from and it seems that the problem occurs in the budding. I have cut back Scharlachglut all the way down - last time I did that, the mosaic was still there, as was a bit of black spot, but in the autumn it was a lot better. Does being dry at the root make it worse? Help - some experts in the UK say rip them out, others say don't, just put up with it. I am ready to rip them out.

Georgie, I've noticed mosaic-like markings on the leaves of a couple of my roses but there seem to be no ill-effects to the plant or the the flowers. I'm just ignoring it.

I don't think it exists, any yellow "Mosiac" markings I have had on my roses over the last twenty odd years have been of no consequence.
