Hi all
Does anyone reuse their potting mix? If so what do you do to rejuvanate it? Any problems in doing so?

Is that for your roses? Used potting mix can be improved, but only potting mix you used for other plants, not for roses. My grandma used same soil in which she planted parsley and some herbs for roses in pots, and it seems roses loved it. She used to mix it with some well rotten donkey and chicken manure and humus too . It was 30-40 years ago, and someone can object that today for whichever reason, but, surprisingly, it worked well ;-) Today, you just buy another bag of ... well, whatever it is inside and labeled as potting mix. - Tom |

| I have re-used potting mix which has had smaller bulbs growing in it but have added slow release fertiliser and (bagged) compost to rev it up and have managed to grow rose cuttings (and other plants) just fine - haven't tried rose bushes though. I always add something to retain moisture too: either Ecoblock (expanding mulch) block or some water-retention crystals so I don't have to use so much water. Watering pots can be such a chore after you've been at work all day. Janine/Melbourne |
