Which Very Dark Red Rose?

I am looking for a very dark red rose for a gift for a friend. Preferance would be for HT but also floribundas might be suitable. Fragrance would be nice but not necessary. Then, maybe, there may be a David Austin. Thank you.

have u consider delbard rose, "red intuition."? That's a very dark red rose that is usually grown as a cut flower.

Here is a link that might be useful: red intuition link

Fully open its a beautiful colour though not as dark as I have been it growing in Melbourne probably got something to do with the warmer year round weather up here in Brisbane.

Black Magic, Black velvet, Mr Lincoln and Papa Mediland are all supposed to be dark red but like I said above its got a lot to do with the climate.. I do hope you find one to your liking in those I have mentioned... MM.

I have a very dark red rose called "Black Beauty". The sun doesn't seem to effect the colour but as it gets older and fades away as roses do it turns black!

My favourite dark red rose is Oklahoma which has the most heavenly scent of any rose I have ever smelt. It is a rather large rose and it is not a good cutting rose, but for depth of colour and scent, you cannot go past it. Mr Lincoln is a good cutting rose but the depth of colour is not as intense and neither is the scent. The blackboy rose does have good colour and perfume but I think that you can only get it in a climber. Kentucky Derby is another deep red rose and it grows quite large, however its perfume doesn't appear to be strong. Papa Meilland does have good perfume and colour and it has large flowers.A beautiful old world rose that is tending toward the burgundy and yet is red is General Gallieni. I think that it is very beautiful.Another rose that is healthy, grows very tall, flowers incessantly from early spring until the beginning of winter, has lovely floribunda flowers that you can cut and keep inside for a fortnight easily, is Permanent Wave. It is really a very dark pink with fluted petals like an azalea. This rose can be counted on to perform and it is disease free always in my garden. Its only drawback is that it has no perfume. Other than that, I would recommend it highly for any garden with sufficient space.

Oh! I forgot. Camara is a dark red rose. I am not sure about the perfume but it's good for cutting. It is a deep red and the petals are edged with black so it is a very striking rose and worthy of consideration. I think that it is a hybrid tea.
