| I would like to propogate a bud or cutting of a hot house rose (florist rose) onto a garden rootstock. Can this be done? Will the cutting or bud survive on the rootstock in the open garden?
Thank you |

| Feb 19, well, if you tried nelson14 how'd it go? Otherwise a bit late now, I reckon. Besides, while it's not too difficult (though I've never tried it) budding a rose isn't all that difficult. You must ensure the pruning knife is sterile and razor sharp and the bud is fresh (newly taken). There is a set procedure and I'd recommend obtaining specific guidlines from any good rose book or maybe the Internet before attempting it. Also a good, hardy rootstock is advisable, Bonnica's Pocket Roses suggest a 'Wild' rose rootstock. Perhaps a briar! Regards Bill |

| Nelson give it a go use Multiflora rootstock some cut flower varieties will do ok but a lot of them are very bad for black spot and other fungle problems. |
