| Hi there! We are building a new house and there is a lovely planter box in the elevation outside the master bedroom window. We would like to place a fragrant climber in this box and were thinking about a rose as they are fairly hardy and drought resistant.
The planter faces south-west, so will receive afternoon sun in the summer but I suspect not very much direct sunlight in the winter. May I please ask for:
2. will the roots of roses become invasive to the rendered concrete planter? If YES, are there any precautions we should take at all please? FYI - the planter box is constructed of rendered bricks and has dimensions of l=2290mm; width=230mm; height=455mm approx. So we have an approximate soil area of 0.24 cubic metres of soil. With many many thanks and the absolute kindest regards |

| Hi! Actually, I forgot to ask a third question: How should I prepare the soil in the planter to best suit a climbing rose? Once again, my absolute thanks! |
