Roses named/released in 1938?

My Mum turns 70 later this year, and according to family legend -don't you love them- she was 'born under a rose'(her sister was 'born under a pansy' two years earlier!). Mum has really enjoyed growing roses over the past few years and I thought I would try to find the rose varieties that were named/released in 1938 for her. Is there a book/place I could go to find out the roses released in any given year? I have no idea where to even start.

Hi Wattle Girl here is one Summer Snow (floribunda, Perkins, 1938) White

It would probably be best if you go to your local library and see if they have a copy of Botanica's Roses I only have the pocket book but there are over 2000 roses listed and all have the year they were bred if they are not too sure it may say around 1560 or that time.

You may be able to buy a copy at one of the bookstores have a look at the link below there is a pic of it. Here is the IBN No 0091841313 on my copy.. Good luck in your search..

Forgive me, I'm not from Australia, I'm from Florida. I was just looking through some of the forums I don't usually visit, and took interest in your question.

At www.helpmefind.com you can do a rose search by year of introduction.

Of course, you would then have to see which ones are available to you, you may be able to find some info on that at helpmefind, too. If you look up the individual rose there, there are tabs at the top of the page to click on, the last one lists some places where you can (possibly) purchace that rose. I've included a link.

Fun research and how nice of you to do this for your Mum. Hope she is enjoying her roses. Aren't you just getting done with summertime in that part of the world?

Good one ..Why didn't I think of that.
Having quite a few of my roses featured on helpmefind it should not have slipped my memory.
A grey moment perhaps.

Not down the normally cooler South it's a hot 40 degs Celsius every day now.

And a delightful 28 up here in the Sub-tropics..
