Help - What is this 'thing'?

This is such a weird bug. I'm sure they are found outside, but they look so much like a clump of dirt that you wouldn't even take a second look.

I have found three of these UPSTAIRS in my house on my cream carpet. God knows what it is living off.

If anyone can tell me what it is I would appreciate it.

It seems almost identical top and bottom, except it has a mouth on the underside, and if you leave it mouth side down on a piece of paper (or even in a dish) it moves around (albeit VERY slowly).

Thanks
Lisa-Maree

I'm not sure but it could be a type of case moth caterpiller. I've seen ones the look like a bunch of sticks or leaves but not dirt yet.

This site might help you.

Here is a link that might be useful: Case moths
